Live Mail Contacts/Import

How does one import contacts (such as from Outlook Express) into Live Mail?

First of all, you would have export the Address Book as a "Text File (Comma
Separated Values)" - File > Export > Address Book > Save the file to a
desired location where you'll be able to find it, either to desktop,
diskette (you are gonna need to copy it over to Vista). Choose the Fields
you wish to Export: > Close the dialog.

Put the file on a Diskette, burn to CD-R or CD-RW or copy to the Vista
partition if you have Vista and XP setup in a dual boot configuration.

In Vista:

Click Start > type in "Contacts" > press enter > on the toolbar, clikc
"Import" > select CSV (Comma Separated Values) > next > browse to the
location where the file is stored Diskette, CD-R or CD-RW or copy to the
Vista partition > select the file > click Open > Next

Oops, I noticed you just referred to Live Mail, the CSV file should still
work for Live Mail though, I did it with hotmail.

Can't be done at the moment - but it's something that'll be considered to be
integrated by M7/M8 (next few months).

Hmmm. I seem to be in the wrong area. I am using Windows XP and beta testing
Live Mail on that.
I have done searches for Live Mail but can't find anything for it on XP.

Live Mail (Beta) is quite different than "Windows Live Mail Desktop (Beta)"
so you need to indicate which program you are really using. Additionally in
the Vista operating system, the mail client is also called "Windows Mail"
which further adds to the confusion. Live Mail (Beta) will only use
contacts that you already have listed in your Passport identification that
you use to log on. "Windows Live Mail Desktop (Beta)" automatically imports
all the contacts in your Windows Address Book when it's installed. "Windows
Mail" in Vista has a similar capability.

Windows Live Mail - web based email client, will replace Hotmail.
Windows Live Mail Desktop - the software based client which integrates XP
Outlook Express, and Hotmail together into a desktop product.

I don't have Windows Live Mail Desktop, but I imagine it uses the Windows
mail storage format or at least something different from the OE message
format. I sure hope so.
