Extremely low transfer rate from my DVD

I just wondered why does the transfer rate is so slow from my dvd drive to
the Hdr, it's a 4.7 gig DVD with about 45 000 files, but it would take about
10 min. on XP, and now it's telling me it's gonna take 1h !!! maybe it's
because of the metadata finding system and it's getting the info on each
file, or maybe not. Someone help me.thanks
