I set my power plan to turn off my monitor in 20 minutes (my screensaver
comes on in 15 minutes) but it won't turn off my monitor. This used to work fine in Windows XP. I have an nVidia 6800 with a Dell 2001FP flat screen. I don't know what else you might need. |

I am having exactly the same issue. I am running a Nvidia 6200OC with a 17"
Mag flatscreen. I am glad to see that I am not the only one. Other than that, it seems to be working fairly well. No error messages, no BSOD, and it actually found all my devices. You may have some processes running in the background that Windows is
recognizing as activity on the user's part. Check to see what you have running. "pbostian" wrote: > I am having exactly the same issue. I am running a Nvidia 6200OC with a 17" > Mag flatscreen. I have been dealing with support on the screensaver issue. when the monitor
turned off as scheduled, after a few minutes it came on again with the screensaver active and none responsive to a wiggle of the mouse. The Vista team said the same issue happened when they checked it. I now have my screensaver set to "none" and my monitor set to turn of after 15 minutes. It stays off! I'll live without a screensaver until the problem is resolved. -- Keith. Same problem here. My laptop screen goes blank (black but the screen stays
on) after 15 minutes. I have a ATI mobility radeon 9600. It is kind of annoying because when I am working on battery the laptop is empty very fast. The screensaver/power saver problem has been resolved in RC1. I have my
screensaver set to start after 5 minutes and the monitor to shut down after 10 minutes. Works as timed and does not restart until I move the mouse ![]() -- Keith. It doesn't seem to be resolved in RC1 because i am running it on my laptop.
The previous version didn't seem to have it. Hope they will offer a solution for this. "Keith" wrote: > The screensaver/power saver problem has been resolved in RC1. I have the x64 version of RC1, if that makes any difference, and
screensaver/power saver works flawlessly. Of course if you are using anything other than a Windows included screensaver, there may be compatibility problems. For instance, my favorite screensaver app is "Electric Sheep" and won't work with Vista af any build. It starts, stops, freezes and generaly behaves badly ![]() -- Keith. I have the same problem. The monitors go black, but they remain on in the
same way they would with a blank screensaver. Monitors are both Samsung and I'm running RC1 5600 x86. "Crazyghostboy" wrote: > Same problem here. Ok, I am (now) running Vista RTM x64 on 64bit. Using a build-in OS screen
saver (Pictures). It comes on after the set 5 mins. I found a time for Display to Shut Off, set that to 15mins. Found a when to sleep & set that to 30mins presently. I find nothing w/ which to select or enable a time for the monitor to shut off. I have to hit its power button, otherwise the screen saver will just keep going forever. You can obviously see what I'm asking since the idea is to (be able to) tell it to turn (itself) off. Anxious for responses. Lord know I've tried to get insight on this scenario.
