Default 5381: Anyone got X-fi Sound card working?

No luck here, I've been trying various things for the last few days. In
previous versions sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.

Hopefully upcoming beta 2 will have a working driver, it is hard to test an
OS without sound. Even my motherboard's built in sound card is not picked
up by Vista.

Have you tried the X-FI beta drivers from Creative's web site? I to am
going to be installing the Beta 2 of Vista when it is released on a system
with the X-FI sound card.

Yes, they don't work. They are dated Nov 2005.

Try this workaround, extract the X-fi driver file file using
WinZip for instance. Now go to the folder where you extracted the file. Find
the Drivers folder. Now in that folder click on Support. Now click on i386
folder. In that folder you will find the ctzapxx.exe file. Double click on
the file and the drivers should install correctly. Not a very smooth install
for sure.

Sweet info Andre, Thanks. I can't wait till Beta 2 is released to test it
on on my XPS machine.

I have tried your suggestions, and the creative vista X-Fi driver still has
problems installing on build 5384.

Rui Da Costa
Build 5384 64bit

I guess we just have to wait for Creative to get it's act together.
