Default Profile screw-up

I've had this computer for a little over a week, and finally set up
just the way I want it. Today when I rebooted because WordPerfect
kept freezing up, when it restarted with a message saying Windows
could not load my local profile and was logging me on with a temporary
profile, which left me with an intense desire to hurl the thing out
the door and stomp on it!! I assume this is the equivilant to
starting in safety mode for Win98. How do I get my settings back, and
help it to find my local profile that it took me a week or more to set
up??

No it isn't. It's telling you your user profile is corrupted and since you
can't log on to XP without a user profile, it essentially creates a
temporary user. Please check the following Knowledge Base article for help
with this issue:

Thank you , thank you. Once I get this thing working, I'll go figure
out how to do a system backup!! Might be a good thing to know.
