Try Control Panel->Backup & Restore Center. I am not sure why you would need anything special for Windows Mail. -- And loving it, -Q ______________________________________________ Qu0llSixFour@gmail.com (Replace the "SixFour" with numbers to email) |

Yup, Windows Vista.
You can use the backup app that comes with Vista. "Daze N. Knights" <Daze@microchip.com> wrote in message news:u6t3xnGZHHA.3824@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Any recommendation for a reliable and easy-to-use backup application for > Windows Mail? |

OK. More detail. I use Windows Mail only to access newsgroups, not for
email. I would like to be able to create a restoreable backup all settings for Windows Mail, but for nothing else, so that running a restore for it would restore Windows Mail exactly to the way it was at the time of the backup, but not restore anything else. I am pretty familiar with Complete PC Backup at this point, but not at all with Vista's file backup. This is an opportunity to learn about it. Can someone describe how to accomplish the above? Remember, I want to create a restoreable backup of *only* all settings and contents of Windows Mail. Thanks. Daze N. Hmm. Several folks told me that all I need is Vista's native backup as a
solution to this problem, but, so far, I'm offered no explanations of how to do it. The only relevant option that I see available in Vista's backup is "email," but I use Thunderbird for my email, not Windows Mail. I use Windows Mail just for newsgroups and want some way of specifically backing up just those newsgroup accounts and related Windows Mail settings, so that I can restore Windows Mail to its state at the time of the backup if need be. Is this really possible using Vista's native backup? Daze N. Knights wrote: > OK. More detail. I use Windows Mail only to access newsgroups, not for > email. To backup your news account settings in Windows Mail:
Open Windows Mail. From the Tools option on the menu, select Accounts. Hightlight one of your news accounts and select Export. This will save that accounts settings in a .iaf file that you can save to another hard drive, floppy, etc. Repeat for each news account. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included. Now, *that* sounds like it might actually be a solution to my needs.
Thanks, Jane! Jane C wrote: > To backup your news account settings in Windows Mail: > > Open Windows Mail.
