Default DVD drive disappearing

Recently, after successfully burning a DVD, my DVD drive will 'disappear' from My
Computer - the icon vanishes and the drive isn't accessible. I first thought it
was CloneDVD2, since that was the burning app I was using at the time, but it also
does it with Roxio 7.5. Reboot, the drive comes back, burn a DVD, it disappears.
It also doesn't show in Device Mgr.

Anyone else? Any ideas?

Inspiron 9400, TSST TS-L632D drive, Vista Ultimate.

Dr. T--

Probably Rx:

CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive appears to be missing after you install
Windows XP or Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;EN-US;320553

Look for any upper or lower filter values in the rregistry and delete them
at the specified subkey values if they exist.

These are much rarer possibilities:

CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/316529/

Cannot copy files to the CD-R/CD-RW drive
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;326982

CD-ROM Drive May Not Be Able to Read a UDF-Formatted Disc in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;321640

Good luck,

CH
