Default Vista UI Problems

Most of these things happened in RC1 and RC2, but I thought they'd be fixed
by release. After installing Vista Business a couple weeks ago, I was quite
surprised to see that none of the user interface problems I had experienced
in the betas had been fixed.

1) Folders do not remember their view settings despite the option being
checked. You are likely to get a list view one time, a large icon view the
next, and a details view the time after that. Also, the detail columns that
are selected for a folder commonly disappear or change. This happened in XP
as well, but it was infrequent enough not to be a problem worth complaining
about.

2) Explorer windows often can't tell when they're being interacted with.
This is something that never happened in XP as far as I'm aware, so it's a
totally new bug. The most common time for this to happen is when right
clicking on a file in an Explorer window. Many times it will not display the
context menu for that file and will display the context menu for the folder
it is in instead.

3) When a new item is added to the desktop by software installers, etc, it
will commonly be placed in the upper right hand corner of the screen,
displacing all icons on the desktop if Auto Arrange is on. This is fairly
distracting.

Those are my main observations with annoyances so far. Here's to having
them fixed in the first service pack.

That's odd. I've got Vista Ultimate (x64) and I'm not having any of
the problems you cite.

I second the 1). It's really annoying and quite surprising that such a bug
could get through. Not to mention I can NOT get the darn music (Album, Artist
etc) in detail listing away although the folder do not contain a single song
at all. What's up with that...

Also I cannot select multiple files in explorer...yet another bug. I'm
really happy everytime I buy beta-software which is supposed to be final.

Default Vista UI Problems

Hi,
I don't know how to post a new message so I am asking my question is reply
to this previously posted message.
How can I get rid of the ****ing feature of "Auto Auto-Arrange" on all
folders? I don't want all incons on a folder apper tightly closed together, I
want to separate groups of them to various positions in the explorer window.
But in the "Auto Arrange" in the View sub-menu of the menu appearing when I
right-click, "auto arrange" has a gray color and is unchangable.
I got too much angry: what did Microsoft assume its users?! fools? What was
the problem with existence of this feature in XP that you eliminated it in
Vista?
I would have never used Vista if my Ubuntu knew my wireless adapter! Vista
is only good for very dumb users, who just want to play music with their
computers, and it is much much much worse than user-friendly XP (I also heard
it many times from my friends, but now I wish I would have heard it before
buying a notebook with Vista).

Change from something other than details view, every other view has the
ability to turn off "auto-arrange".

Thank you, it's wonderful, it worked. I swear it didn't work some hours ago
(neither that time nor now I was on "detailed" view),
Anyway, my passions about Vista were not only because of that, there are a
number of other annoying things as well.

cheers,
