Is there a way to reinstall The media center portion of Vista Ultimate with
out having to reinstall the entire OS? I need this, because when attempting to connect to a extender, or when attempting to run Media Center it errors out each time. |

What type of Extender are you using? If it's from the first generation, they
aren't Vista compatible. As far as I know, at this point, the only Vista compatible Media Extender available is the Xbox 360. If you want to try "reinstalling", boot from your DVD and run a repair. Well it is a Xbox 360, however, it is not the extender I am having issues
with. Really it is the app all together. even setting up media center for the first time it errors out. So I cannot finish setup at all. So I wanted to know if there was a way to unionstall and reinstall just the media center and not the os. Or maybe if there is a way using the SDK to just manually replace the files? I doubt there's a way to do what you want to do. In all likelihood, your
problems are related to your Video, Sound, or Tuner drivers. There may be some events recorded in the logs to give you a clue as to where the problem lies. Short of that, I would suggest making sure you have the latest drivers from the manufacturers. No I think the issue lies with in the OS that I burned. I burned the OS from
a ISO off of MSDN. Probably burned the DVD too fast and got some errors. I've installed Vista about 40 times, and have never see the install skip all it did and start windows. But windows it self works ok. The video driver is kinda crappy because NVidia really does not have any video drivers that work well with vista at this point. But by any means, I really think it was during the install of Vista that this got messed up. Thats why I was wondering if there was a media center app that I could uninstall and reinstall. Thanks for you help though. "LaRoux" wrote: > I doubt there's a way to do what you want to do. In all likelihood, your > problems are related to your Video, Sound, or Tuner drivers.
