HP will supply me an upgrade package to Vista Business for my XP Home computer (they assume that I have XP Pro) Will it work? Thank you, Samuel |

About HP. I don't know. Any would be good I wanted to avoid a situation that I get an upgrade
package that will not install (based on the link that Mike sent that wouldn't be a problem) btw, cn one use these packages to do a clean install? X86 no, X64 yes. (I started a new thread on Darrel Gorter's experiments so
read his findings.) The options in Setup are "custom" and "upgrade." There is no "clean" option. I take "clean" to mean a reformat prior to installation of the OS. The Advanced Options is where you find the format tool. The Advanced Options are only available when you can start Setup following booting with the dvd. The problem with trying to do a clean installation with the x86 versions is that you have to start Setup from the x86 desktop and that means you cannot format the system drive with the legacy OS running. There is no such barrier to formatting prior to installation with an x64 dvd and an upgrade edition product key.
