Default Upgrade Question

HP will supply me an upgrade package to Vista Business for my XP Home
computer (they assume that I have XP Pro)

Will it work?

Thank you,
Samuel

Also why do HP think you have a different OS to the one they believe
you have?

Any would be good I wanted to avoid a situation that I get an upgrade
package that will not install
(based on the link that Mike sent that wouldn't be a problem)

btw, cn one use these packages to do a clean install?

Thank you,
Samuel

X86 no, X64 yes. (I started a new thread on Darrel Gorter's experiments so
read his findings.)

The options in Setup are "custom" and "upgrade." There is no "clean"
option. I take "clean" to mean a reformat prior to installation of the OS.

The Advanced Options is where you find the format tool. The Advanced
Options are only available when you can start Setup following booting with
the dvd. The problem with trying to do a clean installation with the x86
versions is that you have to start Setup from the x86 desktop and that means
you cannot format the system drive with the legacy OS running. There is no
such barrier to formatting prior to installation with an x64 dvd and an
upgrade edition product key.
