Why so much RAM usage? What is going on in the background with WMP11? Just
playing a 4GB playlist, and on XP, WMP never gets much above 20MB. What's the deal? Oh, and if you add mfpmp.exe, that's another 10MB or so. Since the screenshot, it has dropped down to 88MB, but that's still way too high. Anyone else having this issue? http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/...ramusagesg0.jpg |

Odd. I minimized WMP11 to the taskbar, and the RAM usage went from 88MB
down to 5MB. I then restored WMP11 back from the taskbar and now it's only using 11MB of RAM instead of 88MB. Is this is a bug? If so, it's too late now. I'm using RC2 Build 5744 (x86) by the way, if that helps any. Thanks guys. "Travis King" <Anonymous@none.com> wrote in message news:eZhcCteDHHA.572@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Why so much RAM usage? Is your video ram shared or dedicated? I would SWAG that if your video ram
is shared, that may be why you're seeing the numbers you're seeing. Maximized (or windowed....) would use more vid ram than minimized. If that vid ram is shared with the system ram... Nope, it's dedicated. I've got an Ati Radeon X1600 PRO AGP 8x 256MB GDDR2
video card. Thanks. "Lang Murphy" <lang_murphy@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:10972C38-4AAF-497E-A5EE-C3F47EA57834@microsoft.com... > Is your video ram shared or dedicated? Not to sound like the typical fanboy but if you're playing music winamp is
an infinitely better program for it than WMP. I highly recommend it, I personally can't stand WMP it tries to do everything and is mediocre because of it. It has the best skins, plugins, great audio decoders and uses significantly less resources than WMP. You're probably looking at the working set size. This is the active memory
paged into main memory. When you want to see the virtual memory you have to go to 'View->Select Columns...' in the task manager and switch on 'Virtual Memory Size'.
