I am trying to upgrade build 5728 to RC2. This is the first build that gave
me the upgrade option. Other builds said I did not have enough space on my C drive to upgrade. I have a dual boot system XP home and Vista. My question is which OS will be upgraded. The reason I ask is because during installation, in the "checking compatibility" phase it stops and says that I have to remove Nero burn before the installation can continue. The problem is I only have Nero burn on XP Home. I do not want to upgrade XP, I want to upgrade Vista. Will I have to do a clean installation? |

Why not deinstall Nero, then upgrade 5728 -> 5744, and later reinstall Nero on XP Home? rOy |

the vista partition won't be upgraded unless you are running the installer
from your vista partition. the installer will upgrade the OS that you are currently booted into and running the installer from. Correct, you must be booted into Vista to upgrade your Vista system, and if
you are seeing anything about Nero, and you are sure there is nothing on your Vista system, I would definately NOT update without disconnecting the XP home system first. a.. Upgrades from Vista RC1 are valid.
a.. Upgrades from Windows XP SP2 are encouraged. a.. Upgrades from any other build are not supported or recommended. I was prepared to do clean install, but decided to try upgrade. Will do clean install when RTM hits. |
