internet explorer stops responding

If I have more than one browser window open, one of them will stop
responding and a little dialogue box comes up with program has stopped
responding ....wait for program to restart or cancel, but neither of these
tools work, I am just left with a blank IE window that won't close down, It
is very annoying.

*IE Corrupted in Vista Beta 2 and Beyond

This can be a tough problem to fix, with multiple causes, and I believe it
is very common and sometimes it is due to damage to the Windows Explorer
shell that impacts IE in Beta 2. I'm interested in this, because I haven't
seen people complain about it on groups and forums until Beta 2 and the two
builds beyond--including 5472.

1) One solution is to try to disable addins at
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer No Addins.

2) Another is to try to update your Java plugin to the latest addin at
www.sun.com or see

Another is to try to repair the shell--SFC would be far and away the best
way, but Microsoft hasn't been able to fix it in Vista yet and it's one of
the most valuable native repair tools for IE and the OS in the Windows OS
since Win 98.

I'd add to try to run System File Checker (typing sfc /scannow) in the run
box or at cmd but they don't have it working in 5384.4....***yet. (13
months after the baby hit the delivery room--Vista has a long period in
neonatal intensive care for some of its major anatomy and pathophisology).

try System Restore:

What It Can Do:

If you run Win RE's Startup Repair in Vista, it will try to check and repair
the following and we're taking about under three minutes usually when it
works which is often: (this is not a complete list but a list of major tasks
it can perform):

Registry Corruptions

Missing/corrupt driver files (you don't have to guess here--it looks at all
of them

Missing/corrupt system files (disabled in Beta 2 as is System File Checker
but present newer builds)

Incompatible Driver Installation

Incompatible OS update installations

Startup Repair may offer a dialogue box to use System restore.

How to Use Startup Repair:

***Accessing Windows RE (Repair Environment):***

1) Insert Media into PC (the DVD you burned)

2) ***You will see on the Vista logo setup screen after lang. options in the
lower left corner, a link called "System Recovery Options."***
