Default installing vista on a laptop. will i loose all my current files


im runnin xp pro on my laptop. i want to install vista beta 2. will i loose
all my files or will just upgrade to vista without loosing any files?
what about all my programs will they be useless? will i be able to run
source engine to play halflife 2- counter-strike? will i have to re-install
them or no?

If it is that critical of a machine, I wouldn't do it.

However, your settings and documents will be saved if you do an upgrade.
BUT, sometimes things don't go right, and you have the possibility of losing
it all. So, make sure you backup just in case!
