I just finished installing build 5803. I used the key provided with my MSDN subscription for "all CTP builds". When I try to activate online, I receive a notification that the key is "already in use", and activation fails.
What should I do? Thanks. Pierre Szwarc, Paris, France |

Try another available key, I am sure there are more. Click Start > Right
click Computer > click "Properties" Change Product Key If you continue have issues, I recommend you post this issue to the microsoft.public.msdn.general -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Pierre Szwarc" <pierre.szwarc@laposte.net> wrote in message news:40A958F7-0064-42E5-9543-C3840FF4FDF3@microsoft.com... >I just finished installing build 5803. I did it with the 5270 build (no network) and it was fairly painless. -- </Slugsie> |

Yes, it is known to work on 5270, not sure about 5308 though.

Well, I solved it by sheer luck: I tried another key, got the same message, then on a hunch I switched back to the original key, and this time it activated automatically without trouble <g>
Thanks for the replies, anyway :-) -- Pierre Szwarc Paris, France "Pierre Szwarc" <pierre.szwarc@laposte.net> wrote in message news:40A958F7-0064-42E5-9543-C3840FF4FDF3@microsoft.com... >I just finished installing build 5803. I'm having problem activating Windows Vista beta version build 5112.
I could not connect to the internet through this computer, so I just left it without activating it. Now the activation period is expired. Is there any other way to activate Windows Vista, such as throuh phone calls or emails ? Thanks. You can activate over the phone. Just follow the activation wizard, it'll
tell you the steps. -- </Slugsie> "smiling" <smiling@newsgroups.nospam> wrote in message news:E5C14ED5-73C0-4238-8F86-34A569388CB2@microsoft.com... > I'm having problem activating Windows Vista beta version build 5112. > I could not connect to the internet through this computer, so I just left > it > without activating it. > Now the activation period is expired. > Is there any other way to activate Windows Vista, such as throuh phone > calls > or emails ? |

In the Windows activation menu, there are 3 radio buttons :
- Activate Windows online now - Retype your product key - Show me other ways to activate Unfortunately the 3rd radio button ("Show me other ways to activate") is grayed. Choosing the "Retype your product key" does not help. Choosing the 1st radio button will fail. Any advice ? Thanks. "Slugsie" wrote: > You can activate over the phone.
