I bought a computer last night and the salesman tried very hard to sell me
a Canon Pixma MP160 all-in-one for "free" (well, not quite). I was given a pass to check it out first, but can't seem to find it discussed here. The deal would be Printer $90 - $70 rebate = final cost $20 or Printer $90 + extra set of cartridges $45 - $90 rebate = final cost $45 supposedly making the printer "free" even if I pay full boat for the carts (he muttered about 16ml contents, with one black and one tri-color, neither looking any larger than my present Lexmark 82 and 83). At the cost this has to be the bottom of the Canon all-in-one line. So How good is the scanner? How good is it for general printing? How good is it for photo printing? Is it relatively expensive or cheap to use in relation to Canons with individual color tanks? Does it have one of those seperate print heads that are so hard-to-get/expwnsive when they do clog or wear out or do you get a new set of jets with each cartridge, like HP or Lexmark? I'm going to need a new printer eventually (and this one boasts a Vista driver) but even if I got it it would go on the shelf for a while, so will the included carts and the extra set still be good when I upen them up for use some months from now? My experience is with Lexmark, which have a tendency to dry up without use. Brendan |

Generally though, I would say you should have looked at the paperwork with the printer and read the specs to see what it does. It must work reasonably well compared to your old printer anyway. For the $20 price I'd be inclined to take the chance. The extra carts are only a deal if you are not a refiller and able to save that way. As long as the printer is dry and the carts are unopened in their packages, they should keep on the shelf for a long time. I keep a lot of old ink and never have a problem because of it. |

Brendan:
Based upon recent completed sales on eBay this printer is worth approx. $45-55 total (includes shipping charges). Jay Brendan R.
