tried to open email folder and it said i could not open folder. it told me to
close all mail related items. when i restarted it said could not save outlook.pst file. folders not available. how can i get this back and how can i make a backup and prevent it from happening again. finding anything on microsoft is like finding a needle at the bottom of 40,000 haystacks. |

Without knowing exactly what you did and exactly what the messages said, I don't know how to speculate what went wrong. Thank you for the info it is a great help. The scare of my own advice came
back to haunt me. I'm a technician and usually make sure to back up and got caught with pants down. fortunatel for me i had the most unusual experience of outlook eventually fixing itself and restoring without the loss of a single email.
