Default Appointments do not appear in calendar unless made recurring

Outlook 2003 re-installed on new pc after old failed. Restored data from
backed up .pst file. However, when I enter an appointment and save it, it
does not appear. If made recurring it will appear??!!
However when I synchronise with my Blackberry, the invisible appointments
(i.e. the one's entered normally) are visible on it!!!
