I would like to overlay a line chart on a stock chart. Is there a way to do
this?

Thank you for the link. I got stuck on the step where you select the added
series and convert it to a scatter plot. When I tried to do that, I got a
message that said "some chart types cannot be combined with other chart
types. select a different chart type." I tried to select each different kind
of scatter plot type but none would work. I am using Excel 2007, if that
makes a difference.
can someone help me?

Excel 2007 doesn't realize you can combine a stock chart with another
chart type (the designers probably never used Excel for real work).

You'll have to start from scratch. Make a chart with four line chart
series (open, high. low, close in that order) and one XY series, with
all series on the primary axis. On the middle chart tools tab, add
high-low lines and up-down bars. This adds these features to the line
chart series, effectively making it a stock type chart. Then format each
line chart series to remove any lines and markers.
