I think you mean svchost.exe. Take a look here for a good description of what
it is and what it does.

If that is the spelling, then it probably is a computer-virus.

Within Windows Explorer, right-mouse-click on the file, once you find it,
and choose "send to compressed file".

Then, right-mouse-click on the file that was just created,
and choose "send as E-mail" to 'virus(at)ca.com'. (Change '(at)' to '@'.)

You'll get a free(!) half-computerized, half-computer-security-researcher
analysis of the file.

In addition to Stu, and Melvin good advice, just for grins do a search on
your harddrive for svchost.exe. Look for the directories that come up. If any
of the files are in a directory other than System32 or prefetch than this
could be the problem.

For the benefit of the community reading this post, please rate the pºst.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Thank you Engel - even better advice Actually, the original post may not
have been a typo, in which case, I have been presumptuous in thinking so.
Take a look here:

If you get a copy of Process Explorer from Sysinternals
(www.sysinternals.com), it will show you every sub-process kicked off by
svchost.exe. It can also replace the regular task manager and provides MUCH
more info.
