No icons after updating W.D.

Hi All, Since updating to the final version of WD I have no icons on screen
about 1 in 5 times at start up. I think it might be WD because when I shut
down with taskmaster it asks me if I want to shut down WD and then asks if I
want to shut down IE 7. I updated to IE 7 a couple of weeks before updating
WD to the latest version, WD always scans and works with no problems. I
would appreciate any help offered.

It could be that the `Show desktop Icons` has become unchecked although a 1
in achievment seems strange. Have you tried recycling the option to see if it
clears the problem? This KB article may help you

Hi Toad

Are you talking about icons on the desktop or icons in the system tray
(typically lower right hand corner of screen)?

If you are closing all IE7 windows prior to closing down, there should not
be any left to be terminated.
Next time, prior to shutdown, bring up task manager and see if you have any
iexplore.exe apps still running.

If so, you have something that is hanging IE7 when you close the window.

Thanks for your help, I will try your suggestions next time it happens.
Thinking further about it, it may have just been "Explorer" that needed to
close and not IE 7, would that make more sense? I will check more carefully
next time.

Sorry, forgot to add it was my desktop icons not the tray icons.
