I have WD to scan automaticly every day.
When It gets done with a scan I reboot. Then I get this nagging Icon in the tray and I click on it and it says I need to run a scan. Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 |

Hello Dwaggie67,
Am I correct in thinking that you are running Ccleaner or another registry cleaner? -- "Dwaggie67" wrote: > I have WD to scan automaticly every day. > When It gets done with a scan I reboot. > Then I get this nagging Icon in the tray and I click on it > and it says I need to run a scan. > > Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 |

It a MS thing... Send it out and fix it later. I noticed you need to run full
scan to clear the message. Quick scan won't do it. So far it's been a good product. But the scan schedule is worth a darn. I've been reading a lot about the resource hog "MsMpEng.exe" taken up all the CPU. I just stop the Full Scan option and all my resources return to normal. However, I scheduled my scan for early morning which WD doesn't go by. WD starts automatically whenever you miss or don't complete the previous scheduled run. So I changed my setting back to Quick Scan and I haven't had any major issues, except I always get the same need to scan message. Hope this helped some. I think this is a known scheduled bug on Window Defender Beta 2. I'm not sure
wether they had fix this on the final Windows Defender Version 1.1.1593.0. The best way to avoid it might be to turn off automatic scanning and do the scanning manually. You might want to check your power management setting and set never to standby and turn off harddisks or turn off hibernations.
