XP - SP2; have downloaded WD installation pkg. Gets to a point then I get the
message 'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.' I am the Owner/Administrator. I have put the install. pkg. in 3 different locations - Desktop; c:\ Program Files; and c:\Program Files\Windows Defender. Trying from each place I get the same message, which also says, e.g., c:\Program Files\Windows Defender "is not a valid installation package." Same when trying from the other two locations, and when adding: c:\Program Files\Windows Defender\WindowsDefender.msi. |

Additional info. Version now installed = 1.1.1347 = not the one instructions
say needs to be deleted. Tried to delete it anyway. Can't because = "The install source for this product is not available." I've done nothing but receive updates since it was installed. (More info = Def. ver. = 1.14.1929.4; Eng. ver. = 1.1.1804.0. "Marty" wrote: > XP - SP2; have downloaded WD installation pkg. Marty, I can help you fix this, but let me ask a non-sequiter first: Do you
use Microsoft Office on this machine? -- "Marty" wrote: > XP - SP2; have downloaded WD installation pkg. Do each of the 3 areas have the entire package or are two of them just
shortcuts? Are any paths on your system connected to a network drive? Not just dealing with WD, but do you have any network drives that contains data in support of your system? Each of the 3 areas have the file I downloaded which I copied and pasted from
the original location. There are no paths on my system connected to a network drive. There are no network drives that contain date in support of my system. There is a LAN in the house with one other computer connected to it, but there is no interface between the computers. Problem solved! I was finally able to remove the Beta version, after which WD
installed without a hitch.
