Hi oldlady, I'm an old cat
goto Microsoft/Windows Update and under Options on the left side of the Window, click Review your update history. See if there is an entry 1.14.1929.4 Let me know what it shows. If nothing there, click the Windows Defender Icon and on the WD window click the down arrow to the right of the white ? (help), Click Check for Updates. Again, let me know what happens. As long as the home page (at the bottom) for Windows Defender shows the
definition file as 1.14.1924.4 and the update history under Microsoft/Windows Update shows successful, you are OK. I don't know why the blank page, but let's see what happens on the next cycle of definition updates. "Beleniel" wrote: > Hi all > > I same problem as "oldlady". Can you successfully download other items which require WGA validation?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en Above's a reasonably small app you could test with. Don't install it unless you are interested, just see whether you can download it or see the same symptom. -- "Beleniel" <Beleniel@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:52F30D9E-C0AF-4FE2-90D1-7C8B7B502488@microsoft.com... > Hi all > > I same problem as "oldlady". Looks like I get the same problem ..... it validates ok and then asks me to
download. I download and a separate window opens. This window just stays blank/white and the prgress bar at the bottom seems to stop at about half-way. OK- So I think that tells us to troubleshoot WGA, and not that the Defender
download is somehow dead. What happens when you hit the "validate now" button here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/do...19-fa27cf3c076b If this has a problem, or even if it doesn't, this would be next: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ Any popup blockers running? -- "Beleniel" <Beleniel@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5203FCA5-E62D-421A-A1F4-E329E592DD0A@microsoft.com... > Looks like I get the same problem ..... it validates ok and then asks me > to > download. I tried your download, and the same small blank window came up...nothing
asking if I wanted to save or run, then the thank-you from MS for downloading. If it is on my computer, how do I find and delete now? -- I''''m a computer dummy "Bill Sanderson MVP" wrote: > Can you successfully download other items which require WGA validation? > > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en > > Above's a reasonably small app you could test with.
