I have Windows XP Home and I just backed up all my programs with "Nero Ultra
Burning Utility". This suite has a restore feature for this task. If and when I have to restore my programs, will they be just as accessible as they are now? I have some programs in that folder that took alot of configuring to get right and I understand that the registry keeps certain settings for such programs. Does this kind of backup change the settings in the registry as they are restored?? |

As long as your Windows and Windows registry (with the info about the programs included) is still intact, a restore of this type would work for applications. It would not work if you were trying to rebuild your system by reinstalling Windows though. In that case, you would need to reinstall the programs too. -- Sharon F MS-MVP/ Windows XP - Shell/User |

If you do not get this message then I would make a restore point before downloading your backup, as a matter of fact I suggest that you do so first then download. That way if it changes things automatlly (which it should not but..)you can always go to the restore reg. and click on your saved date. > >. > |
