I have a problem which developed a few days ago. Whenever my desktop pc
starts, it automatically tries to dial the internet even before the system has finished loading. I cannot for the life of me find out what programme is trying to dial out. The modem log shows it trying to dial my ISP and if I let it connect, no IE window opens. I am free of mal and spyware, use Zonealarm Pro as firewall and Microsoft antispyware is up to date and running.. I have tried booting with logfile but cannot make out what, if anything, is causing my computer to dialout. Any help would be very much appreciated. My laptop does NOT have this problem. Larry |

Click on Connections Tab, make sure this Radio Button is checked; (*) Never a connection Click [OK] and Reboot and see if the issue resolved if not then download the Processor explorer and see what program is causing this. Use this Tool to monitor the running processes in the background and see what application causing it: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sy...ssexplorer.mspx HTH. If the problem appeared only recently you may have a spyware problem. Check
the number being dialled. If it's anything other than the number for your ISP be very suspicious. Some spyware replaces you regular dial-up number with an 07(mobile), 09(premium rate) or an 00(international) number at great cost. Change the number dialled (or set-up a new dial-up). Upgrade your threat prevention software. Scan for threats. Some spyware prevents you using a number anything other than the one it wants you to use. In this case it may be best to refer your computer to someone competent to deal with the problem. I've found that, in this situation, there's not much better can be done than reformatting the hard disk and installing everything again. Regards.
