Default USB joystick not recognised by XP

Hi. This problem occurs across a range of hardware peripherals, not just
joysticks, but the most recent problem I have is in installing a USB Trust
GM-2500 joystick. When I connect it, a message bubble pops up on the
bottom-right of the screen which says 'USB device not recognised'. It goes on
to say that the USB device has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise
it.' No drivers came with the joystick or are to be found on Trust's website.
I'd very much appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Default RE: USB joystick not recognised by XP

Try using the Device Manager to scan for new hardware

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type Devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.
3. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes. This causes Windows
to recognize new devices.
4. Close Device Manager and Control Panel.
