I bought a Dell Optiplex GX1, Windows XP Pro from someone and it was
networked on a college domain. I have tried to create a new administrator account and user account by removing the domain accunt but it will not me to change it. How do I remove the domain account and create a stand alone account as I am not going to network it. Please help me. -- nuggett |

You should clean-install Windows. That will be the quickest and most efficient way to ensure that nothing remains of the domain. See these links for how to do that and what you should have received when you bought the system: http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html - Clean Install How-To http://www.elephantboycomputers.com...talling_Windows - What you will need on-hand If you are unwilling to do that, then you will need to either have the local administrator password and log in with it or boot with a Linux password changing tool such as NTpasswd and change the local administrator password to a blank. Then you will be able to get into the system and remove the domain connection and any previous users. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" Try this:
1. Login as local administrator 2. Click Start, right click My Computer and click Properties 3. Click on the Computer name tab and click Change 4. Under ' Member of' select Workgroup and type 'workgroup' into the box provided. 5. Click ok 6. Click ok to close all dialog boxes and restart the computer.
