Default Windows Messenger

I have a problem with Windows Messenger. For some reason I do not have
complete use of it.

I would like to uninstall the (old) program and start again but the program
is not listed in the listing for 'Add and Remove' from Control Panel.

Can I safely 'delete' it from the Programs list and then download the latest
version of Messenger via the hotmail site?

Your help would be welcome.

It is, under Add/Remove Windows Components but you can't uninstall it, it
just removes access.

What exactly do you mean?

I am unable to link to any of my contacts to email them via the Messnger
link.

It is, under Add/Remove Windows Components but you can't uninstall it, it
just removes access.

If it were removed, is it not possible to replace it by installing a later
version?

Hi Gerry,

I believe Gordon is mistaken. If it only removed access, and not the
component, why would Disk Cleanup list it as an option to recover more disk
space?

The dialog box at the bottom says "removes access from the start menu" -
just like the IE6 one does......
