Hi. I'm struggling a bit to find software that I can use to backup date to
a CD-RW and /or DVD-RW without compression. I simply want to drag and drop my data folders to the drive. I don't want a suite that has 50 applets that I'll never use. If someone can point me somewhere I'll appreciate it. Thanks, James |

As you probably know, you can burn onto CD from XP natively. You need Vista
to burn to DVD from within the OS. How about using Nero? "JamesJ" <jjy@adelphia_darwin.net> wrote in message news:e65GyB5UHHA.5060@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Hi. Nero actually came with the drive but I haven't installed it.
There's so many applets I really don't know what I need to install. Thanks, James "Maincat" <steve@nospam.org.uk> wrote in message news:OJROPl6UHHA.4744@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > As you probably know, you can burn onto CD from XP natively. Most installers have an option for custom installations, I am sure Nero
does too. Using the custom option you can deselect those options you choose not to use. Nero InCD is one you might think about installing as well as Nero Burning ROM or Nero Express. Each of these has the capability of writing to CD's or DVDs as long as the version is new enough. I did experience a problem writing to my DVD at first with Nero 7, but it turned out that the culprit was that my DVD firmware was not up-to-date. Updating the firmware has fixed that problem. Now I can burn anything I want to DVD.
