itunes with windows XP

I installed itunes on my pc - sony vaio, Windows XP Srv Pck2. When I click on
itunes icon it becomes hour glass and then nothing happens. Similar thing
happens for yahoo messenger - after installing yahoo messenger when I click
to start it, nothing happens... I have done disc cleanup, defrag, etc and I
have 5/15 gigs free on my C drive and 45/59 gigs free on d drive.

This is not an iTunes problem. I can be certain for two reasons: (1)
many people including me run iTunes on XP, and (2) you have the same
problem with another program.

Assuming this is new -- that the programs used to work normally --
you most likely have installed some new virus, trojan, spyware, or
other malware. Get current versions of scanning programs and use
them.
