Default Network configuration operator

Hi all,

I have created a user with power user rights in my target designer.
Then I (administrator) added this user
in the network configuartion operator group that he can change IP
configuration.

Now I can change the local area connections, but I have following
problems:

- After changing local area connection properties my XPe will restart
(not typical, when administrator
change the properties this is not so).

- After restart my configured IP address is gone. (by all users)

I hope someone can solve this problems

Default Re: Network configuration operator

I suspect the issues you are seeing are there due to famous update 914798
where Microsoft changed defualt DACLs for various user groups on XP SP1:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914798

Not sure how to fix the reboot (maybe you can just ignore it?) but for the
network settings persistency problem you can try adding "Network
Configuration Operators" group to the security tab (Permissions menu item in
regedit context menu on a key) of the
[HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tcpip] registry key and give the
group Full Control there. For the moment you'd need to do that at run time.
Later you'd probably be able to automate it with "sc sdset" command.

Regards,
KM
