Your laptop/notebook (if bought new) had to come with some restoration/recovery process. It is/was likely documented in some manner. It is also possible you were originally to have burned CD/DVDs using some tool on the laptop itself (which it should have notified you of...) Anyway - you should follow the manufacturer's method of restoring/recovering the system. Of course - that is assuming a 'new' laptop - meaning - you purchased it new - not used. If you purchased it used and did not get a method of restoring/recovering the system - then you missed something pretty important when you purchased it. You *might* be able to get ahold of someone's GENERIC OEM CD and install from it - but more than likely the laptop did not just come with ONLY Windows XP - and you will end up missing whatever software it came with otherwise as you do not have the installation media for that stuff (not to mention - it is entirely possible the GENERIC OEM CD will not function with your product key...) -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

1.See if a partition exists on the hard drive that contains the operating
system - it may be hidden. If you have the code - there should be a partition. 2. If the cd has been used and activated, you will have to call ms support and explain why you need to use it again "Shenan Stanley" wrote: > vineel wrote: > > i have an asus A6 notebook with came with win xp home installed in > > it but the i didnt get the windows cd with my notebook, buti have > > the product key behind my notebook, now i want to reinstall win xp > > home hw can i do it, can i use any win xp home cd and my product > > key. is it possible. pls reply and help me. > > Your laptop/notebook (if bought new) had to come with some > restoration/recovery process.
