Hi
I recently upgraded my CPU, m/nboard and graphics cars and it seems to have killed my old hard drive. I now have a shiny new SATA drive but cannot install XP onto it. When booting from a slipstreamed XPSP2 disc (which successfully performed a repair install after the m/board change) i get an error saying "isapnp.sys is corrupt" and the set-up program fails leaving me with only an option to reboot. Presumably this file was considered ok during the repair install but why is it all screwey now? Can anyone help? Thanks |

You could try the recovery consol, and replace the file
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315311 I dont know if this file was updated in sp2, if thats the case you may have to source the file from a working sp2 installation PS Slightly iffy memory can cause all sorts of problems with a new install "Rob_completely_in_the_dark" <Robcompletelyinthedark@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4F57792C-6FDF-4E06-A9C5-A767E9DF6515@microsoft.com... > Hi > > I recently upgraded my CPU, m/nboard and graphics cars and it seems to have > killed my old hard drive. Hi
Thanks for that. I looked into it a bit more and realised theat the XXSP2 disk i was using was generate dby slipstreaming the network version of XP together with SP2, rather than an original Home Edition. I tried it with the original XP disk and it installed fine, but then i had to go through the pain of doing the Upgrade Install of SP2 and all the updates again. Still, it's working now, which is the important thing! Thanks again.
