Default Error: "There was a problem installing..."

I have a situation where I am trying to install an HP lj1022. I have tried to
install it on 3 different HW types all using the same corporate SW image. The
error I recieve when connecting the USB printer "There was a problem
installing this hardware." It lists the USB icon and HP Laserjet 1022. (which
tells me the USB is properly recognizing the signature of the device.

Below that it says..."An error occurred during the installation of the
device. The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary
entry. This may be because the INF was written for Win 95 or later.

I have tried to install the drivers from the OEM CD, download and also it is
listed in the XP pre-defined list with no avail. I have gone threw and
deleted all printers from the registry. I also downloaded and replaced the
usbmon.dll.

Any thoughts?

As I stated below I've already tried to install the drivers from the CD, I've
also downloaded them and I've tried using the preinstalled drivers of XP none
of which work.
Anybody else have an idea?
