I have the same problem with version 5.1. I had to re-enter the password
which, at this moment, does not occur. However, at bootup, Windows messenger
starts but does not log-on automatically. A manual sign-on has to be
performed. Speaking with some of my contacts, I found that Windows Messenger
does not start automatically on their machines either. Hence, I do not see
them log-on. I just wonder whether one of the recent security updates changed
the WM function.(????)

I started having problems yesterday (WIM 4.7). I'm online, but none of my
contacts appears to be online. They say they are online and that I appear as
offline. I haven't made any updates recently (in fact, when updates appear
"ready to install", they can't install anyway).

As for the sign-in - I usually get signed in automatically as soon as I open
IE (I'm still with IE 6). But a few months ago it started signing me off
without warning.
