I am unable to insert Publisher 2000, pdf., and some Word200 files into
FrontPafe 2000. This is very limiting. Is there a fix, or do I need to go to a later version? And if so, which one? I am running W2K, and would like to avoid upgrading to Vista for at least another year. |

There is no version of FrontPage where you can insert Publisher, or .pdf
files. For Word, in all versions of FrontPAge: Open FrontPage, Open your web and open a NEW blank page. Open Windows Explorer and change your desktop so FrontPage and Windows Explorer are tiled alongside each other. In Windows Explorer, browse to the Word document you wish to insert. DO NOT OPEN THE FILE. With the mouse, drag the Word document onto the blank page, and release. For .pdf files: Use File->Import in FrontPAge to import the .pdf files into your open web, then on a page link to the .pdf file. For Publisher, either preceed as for .pdf (users will need Publisher on their PCs), or use Copy-Paste to build new pages in FrontPage. You could save the Publisher document as HTML and use the resulting mess, but I assume you wish to preserve your sanity. This applies to all versions of Publisher (from 95 through 2003, I have not yet checked 2007), and all versions of FrontPage. -- Ron Symonds - Microsoft MVP (FrontPage) Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. Publisher? Don't waste your time trying to convert pub files, just redo the
pages in FP or EW. If all you are trying to do is create and insert a graphic created in Pub or
Word you can do it. It's easier to do with Publisher 2003 because you can save the layout image as a jpg and use that in your FP layout. With your PDF image opened try taking a PrntScn of it, then Paste that into an image editor and crop it and Save As a jpg or gif to use in FP. Depending on what pdf program you are using you may be able to directly select the image and export it. I know it can be done with Acrobat 8 Pro. I tried your suggestion re the Word | document, which is a party announcement I created in Word. I created the | document using a MS clipart border, and MS Wordart text. When I tried to | paste the document, the text wouldn't go. I similarly tried to paste a | Publisher document, and all that went on was the background. I don't | understand what it is I'm supposed to do about the pdf. files. As far as | creating this document in FrontPage, FrontPage doesn't seem to have WortArt | capabilities. | I do prefer working with office to going off and using other programs. If | MS' web program isn't interoperable with Office, should I move to another web | program? Thanks for your input. | "Ronx" wrote: | | > There is no version of FrontPage where you can insert Publisher, or .pdf | > files. | > For Word, in all versions of FrontPAge: | > Open FrontPage, Open your web and open a NEW blank page. | > Open Windows Explorer and change your desktop so FrontPage and Windows | > Explorer are tiled alongside each other. | > In Windows Explorer, browse to the Word document you wish to insert.
