Hi Rob
Forget about a hit counter and sign up with google analytics its free and
gives you loads of info on the traffic to your site. Not sure of the URL but
google "analytics" and you will find it. Most web designers have this on
there sites.

http://GoStats.com also has an invisible counter option. It's easy to
use too.
