I have Winxp SP2 and use a HP 895cse printer. This particular printer was
much faster when it was installed with win98. I cannot install the printer driver from the cd that came with the printer, because winxp has its own driver for this printer. My problem is the printer is much slower (I mean much slower) using the driver on winxp. Is there any way to bypass, so to speak, the winxp driver and then install the driver from the cd that came with the printer? Or is there another way to speed up this printer? Come on; I know there is a computer and printer expert out there somewhere that can help me; I want to hear from you. Thank you. Mahlon |

Here are some general tips from hp for speeding up this printer, but I don't really expect them to help you: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&lang=en When you say that the printer is slow, is it slower to start printing or slow to print a complete job, and if the latter, does it make a difference what application you're printing from? PDF files, for example, if printed using a non-PostScript (PS) driver, can take a very long time to print. Have you tried the XP Printing Troubleshooter? 1. Click Start, and then click Help and Support. 2. Under Pick a Help Topic, click Fixing a problem. 3. In the left pane, click Printing problems. 4. In the right pane, click Printing Troubleshooter. Is the printer set to "Normal" "Best" or "EconoFast" mode (the latter may be faster but may produce output which is too low in quality for you)? You might try posting your question in either/both of the hp's business support forums (http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/...?categoryId=220) or ITRC forums (http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/...?categoryId=220) -- Lem MS MVP -- Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer |
