Folks:
Appreciate if someone could tell me the differences among the following 3 application programs : * Windows Messenger 5.1 * MSN Messenger 7.5 * Windows Live messenger 8.0 Just downloaded all 3 of these programs from Microsoft's site & cannot decide which one to install. * What are the basic differences (if any) between the messaging programs ? Thanks, Jo. |

Don't tell me that Microsoft has confused you??? I wont believe you !!! lol
ok.. here is the long bitter story.. Microsoft one day said.. ICQ AOL and Yahoo have IM clients, why don't we do some of our usual innovation, and copy them? This was in the win98 era.... so they made the first messengers.... then some Microsoft dork said: Why don't we bundle that with our new OS that is coming out? (XP). So when you installed XP you had windows messenger whether you wanted it or not. You could not remove it. You could not disable it. You had to be a hacker to get rid of it without slowing down your pc. Then another Microsoft Dork came around and said: Lets make another messenger but lets call it MSN messenger and let that be for entertainment and the general public while the other windows messenger will be left for IM messages in the corporate sector. Ok.. so they did that.. and hell broke loose. People now had 2 messengers competing to log in with each other, both starting.. and most people could not understand why, or how they could remove the old one (they couldn't!). And when things could not be worse... ANOTHER Microsoft Dork came along and said.... Lets make a messenger, that will actually be an upgrade of msn messenger but lets call it something else so we can at last totally confuse everyone! Lets call it Live messenger! Lets give it a face lift and use some ripped off technologies like foldershareing! To make things worse listen to this: Windows messenger cannot be installed on windows98 you can only install msn messenger 5 Windows messenger cannot be installed on Win2000 you can only install msn messenger 7.0 on XP you have windows messenger weather you like it or not, and you can install either 7.5 or messenger live 8.x...On Vista only 8.0 can be installed but it has issues so you are better off installing 8.1 beta! Simple right? Don't tell me this confuses you? If I was in charge in MS, I would give all those dorks the BOOT. They have made a mess of everything. <JoJo> wrote in message news:%23FXXJTcGHHA.3668@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Folks: > > > Appreciate if someone could tell me the differences among the following 3 > application programs : > > * Windows Messenger 5.1 > * MSN Messenger 7.5 > * Windows Live messenger 8.0 > > Just downloaded all 3 of these programs from Microsoft's site & cannot > decide which one to install. > > * What are the basic differences (if any) between the messaging programs > ? > > > > Thanks, > Jo. > |
