Default Target Frames Problem

I have hyperlinks in my contents frame on the left which I want to display
new page contents in the main frame on the right. I've set the Target frame
in the hyperlink to the main frame. I've made sure to get the case correct,
but still none of them will display in the main frame. They all just affect
the same frame that the links are in (the contents frame on the left). That
is causing this? Also, are frames just a bad idea on web sites? I don't
absolutely need them. I just thought they looked good. But I will gladly
ditch them if they are always this problematic.

Thanks.

What's the URL so we can take a look?

Well, I don't have it published yet. That's another problem I'm running into.
I can't seem to publish my site to the host on 50webs.com from FP.

Anyway, I created a new page using FP template with the Banner and Contents
frames. I then added some Word Art to the Contents frame and created
hyperlinks from them to other HTML files on my site. From the hyperlink
dialog, I selected Target Frame and specified the main frame. But the links
seem to only open in the Contents frame. Any ideas?

2 ideas

1) Do not use WordArt for links - it will not work as expected in
Frames or without frames

2) Avoid all VML graphics, which includes WordArt, Text-Boxes, ShapeArt
and everything else produced from the Drawing toolbar. These are IE
only, and will not render in other browsers except as poor quality .gif
images. Links in text-boxes will only function in IE.

See http://www.rxs-enterpruises.org/tests/vml-graphics.htm for reasons
why VML should be avoided.

Ok, I was able to upload the site using their file manager. The URL is
"tbirefocus.50webs.com". Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ok, thanks for the help. I will replace those with plain text links and see
how that goes. Thank you!

This isn't much a frames issue, but a navbar one.

I've a navbar (bot) running in my left shared border. Is it possible to
have one particular link open in a new window as in _target=blank? I'm
hoping this can be done...if not, I'll have to manually draw the nav bar in
the _borders/left.htm file for use throughout the site.

Thanks in advance,
Ray

No you can not target just one link in a nav bar
