I have a site that has been up and running several years on a Windows Server
with ASP. I recently changed to a server running LINUX and PHP. When I try to publish the site, it breaks the Frontpage Extensions. Finally, I moved the relevent pages to a new folder, and was able to post them. Once posted, I started configuring them and things were fine. I then loaded several applications using the hosting firms installation utilities, three backend PHP applications. I synched the pages and have not been able to get back in ever since. When trying o publis, either it doesn't recognize my username/password, it tells me there are no frontpage extension, or the server is unavailable. I suspect there are some directories that I need to have frontpage ignore in order to make this work. Any suggestions? |

FP & the FP SE manages permission on the site (and for subwebs in the site independently)
- use of any host tools to manage the site pages or folders (especially ones that affect permissions) will break the FP SE Have your host reinstall the FP SE and run a server health /permissions check on the FP SE Then open your site in FP and create a folder for your host server PHP app - copy or move the page you need (if any) into that folder - in FP convert that folder to a FP subweb Never open that Subweb in FP and always Publish to your root web Not Including subweb Then go to your host tools to add the special content to That folder ONLY - you will need to access that folder only thru host tools or FTP in the future for any changes -- _____________________________________________ SBR @ ENJOY (-: [ Microsoft MVP - FrontPage ] "Warning - Using the F1 Key will not break anything!"
