drawing frontpage missing

My drawing tool bar is selected, but the drawing icons appear grayed out -
not available. Can't figure out why they won't display. Can anyone help?

You really would be better off not using anything on the Draw Tool
bar..Shapes, Textbox etc..they rely on VML and are IE proprietary - not well
supported on other browsers.

you should avoid the drawing toolbar.
But if these don't apply:
Tools->Page Options - Authoring tab,
tick the boxes labelled VML graphics, CSS1 and CSS2.

Maybe that's a good thing - don't use the drawing tools.
