Talking Vista RC1

Well, here we are again, got my 'invite' off MS to download and try-out Vista once more ... and the first thing I need to do is replace IE, 'cos I can't get it to work properly.

They still need to work on them tabs, and I quote "right-click a link to open in a new tab" ... well, you can right-click and the appropriate little menu window opens, but no matter what you do, it no workie.

Oh, and do not accidentally mouse over the drop-down links here a PCReview ... they will not retract.

Excuse me while I go get Firefox ... back later.

Always nice to see a Linux user helping out Microsoft with "real time" testing of such a talked about & hyped new operating system. So marks out of 10 for presentation, contents, ease of use and % of not crashing.

From the link you gave me!

Thank you for your interest in Windows Vista.
Access to this file is restricted to Customer Preview Program participants only. Please refer to your invitation email for access instructions.

Will have to wait awhile while You & Muckshifter get driven mad by it instead

... and see if you can do anything using IE7 here @ PCR ... Firefox, thank goodness, works faultlessly.

Either MS have some more coding to do, or you do.

No crashes yet ... so for the past 4hours thats a 100% score.

Linux, well, this is more like Linux than Windows, except for the still anoying "do you really wanna do that" pop-ups, they're still here.

Presentation 10/10 ... it sure is pretty.
Content 4/10 ... has four new games.
Ease of use 8/10 ... ain't got tripped up yet if you leave the "welcome center" open all the time, it's easy.

We even have an Antivirus program that works ... Trend's PC-cillin Internet Security 14, I'll test it out on a few sites later.

Boinc is churning over very nicely.
Google's spellcheck actually works, mind you this is Firefox.

I have no idea why MS thinks everybody uses a laptop, 'cos I have no intention of using any power-save on this desktop ... if the monitor goes into power-save, you move the mouse and have to re-login. DOH!!

The Weather "widget" don't know anything other than the USA ... seems MS still don't know there are other countries out there. Linux does.

Hey! ... the dam thing works ... more later.
