Preferences?

How can I cause Windows Fax / photo program become the default when I click
on a jpg in Windows explorer?

Hi jem,

If you want to use Picture Viewer as you photo viewer right click on a
file type such as jpg and select Open With - Choose Program - Windows
Picture and fax viewer (the default viewer for WinXP), then put a check
mark in the box next to "Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file". The next time you click on a jpg file it will open in
Picture Viewer. Repeat the same steps for all the image types you wish
to view in Picture Viewer.

to have windows use the fax/ photo viewer to open a picture file you will
have to right click the file and select "open with" option it has a submenu
usually. on that menu select "Choose Program". In the box that opens select
fax / photo viewer and make sure that you select the "Always use this
program" box.

Right click on a jpg file, go down to "Open with", select "Choose
Program", select "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" then check the
"Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box.
