I checked 400+ messages on this group before posting, but saw nothing
that addressed my problem. I have a Brother MFC and a Visioneer 9120 Scanner. Both use Paperport software, and I can not use the Visioneer if the Brother software is installed, or vice versa. I just got the Brother installed, so I had to UNinstall the Visioneer. I need both working interchangably, but not at the same time. Do I look for a new scanner that does not use Paperport or is/are there driver(s) that will allow me change back and forth without having to re-install the software. Win X Home SP 2, Paperport 8.0 or 8.01, depending on above. TIA for any help. Rick |

XP does not allow Two Scanners to be active on USB at one time, you must unplug the scanner from USB that is not being used. USB is hot switchable, which means that you do not have to reboot the computer to switch devices. But, you do have to remove one before turning on the other. Check out pages 20-21 in the following manual for PaperPort 8. ftp://ftp.scansoft.com/files/support/manuals/80wwpp.pdf Chapter 3, page 21. The Scan pane appears in the left panel, as shown in Figure 8 There is a select scanner dropdown, you should be able to select which scanner to use. -- CSM1 http://www.carlmcmillan.com -- |

HP 4600 2. Epson Expression 1600 3. Epson Perfection 4870 4. HP 6100 5. Canon D2400UF They all work fine in the PP11. |

How would I go about installing the drivers for the Visioneer? The Paperport install for the Brother is OK. Do I need to install PP again to get the Visioneer working? Right now it doesn't do anything, and if I choose the Visioneer in the PP software, I get an error saying "problem with the twain device". I did unplug the Brother just now to test. Rick |

The support page for Visioneer scanners is here: https://visupport.visioneer.com/por...22-2bb07df3013c Select the 9120 from the Scanners for Home dropdown. When you get to the support for the 9120, the driver is named 9120.exe. It would not hurt to get the Manual also. -- CSM1 http://www.carlmcmillan.com -- |

I think my best bet now is to go get another inexpensive (read: cheap) that doesn't use Paperport, not withstanding Terruy's post. I really don't want to upgrade for my uses. Thanks both of you |
