cdrom copying problems

In windows me we had no problems recording or copying
files to a cd. Now in windows xp, we have had nothing
but problems. Won't copy in windows media player or with
the cd writing wizard. We have a mitsumi cr4804te on
system. According to misumi corp, adaptec easycd creator
is required for windows 2000 and windows me to operate
properly. Would it also be necessary in windows xp
