Default cannot send mail but can receive it. no auth required for smtp.

I can send mails but I cannot receive it. I am using ms outlook 2003. I am
using simple smtp, which does not require authentication. I ran detect and
repair but in vain. I reinstalled MS Outlook, but even then I am unable to
send an e-mail. When I click check the account, every thing is successful.

Hi,

Well, I understand that Outlook doesnt throw any error messages when you try
Send/Recv to receive emails.
If that is the case, try running a search for .srs files and rename them to
..old
Restart Outlook and check what happens.
Also, you could try disabling any anti-virus programs or any other email
clients.

Thanks,

Mittu

Your "smtp" is your e-mail's "Simple Mail Transfer Protocal", which is the
way yur account SENDS mail fromyour mailServer (the ISP server). For
instance, if you had for example 'Comcast' as your Internet Service Provider,
your smtp settings would be: mail.comcast.net - in Outlook, go to Tools,
Account Settings, double-click on your e-mail account; your settings should
allow you to input your email address and password in "Login Inforation", and
(most likely) your Server Info should be set to POP3. Your Outgoing Server
should be the same as your Incoming Mail Server, but replace the "mail" with
"smtp". This SHOULD fix your issue!

If the above doesn't work for you:
To get the mail settings from YOUR ISP, go to their website, go the
Technical Support, and find "e-mail setup with Microsoft Outlook Express or
Outlook. If you can't find that, just call your ISP..they would be more than
happy to assist you! If THEY can't help you, just reply to this postng and I
could see what I can do for you...
