Exactly same thing happening with me!
How and where do you re-set the date?

Frustrating, isn't it?
To check your date (which may very likely end up being okay anyway) click on
'Start' (lower left hand of screen), then 'Settings' then 'Control Panel',
then
'Date and Time'.

I hope Microsoft fixes this problem very soon. What a pain it's happening
over the New Year holidays. I'm in New Zealand and it's January 1 here
already for me.

I just did a System Restore back to 25 December - I KNOW everything was
working well then - and I STILL GET THE ERROR. This is ridiculous. PLEASE
can someone help? My computer knowledge is pretty basic and it seems I'm not
the only one who has this problem.

Ed;

You're replying to a message that was posted on 7/17/06. At that time he
did have a problem with his system date set incorrectly. But here we are
in 2007 and in fact Windows Defender Beta expired on the last day of 2006,
so don't reset your system date. If your running Windows 2000 that
operating system is no longer supported by Defender, if your running XP,
the released non-Beta version of Windows Defender is available for download
from Microsoft and it should install over the top of your Beta version
without the need to uninstall it first... at least that's the intention:

I had the same problem with windows defender. It is resolved by following this.

https://forums.microsoft.com/Window...070807&SiteID=2

You need to deinstall the current version through control-panel add/remover software and then download the latest verision from microsoft.

Hope this helps
