In W2003 mixed mode with ADI DNS, is there any way to determine when an alias
was last used, last looked up? We are trying to clean up old entries, while the IT owner is known, he cannot tell who has info about it in a global organization.... Thanks in advance. Ed |

I feel your pain.
When I took over DNS we had tons of dead alias records out there and the only solution I found was brute force trial and error. I turned the DNS logging on and would capture query requests and then wrote a VBScript that I could request a string and after so many tries with no hits I would send out a notice indicting the entry was being deleted and told people to speak now or forever hold their peace and then delete the entry. I made a log of what was being deleted just in case. Got bit a few times but no serious wounds.
